Hi Craig,

I'm not much into genealogy but I was doing a search on the Karg Brewery which is a small family-owned brewery located in a town called Murnau which is about a 45 minute train ride south of Munich. If you look on a map you will find it between Munich and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is located near the Austrian border.

I studied German in this small town (~10K) a few years ago and was amazed to discover this brewery, which brews some of the finest wheat beer in Bavaria. I am not exactly sure how long this family has been brewing in Murnau but I happened to come across a great number of Karg's in the city cemetary. Not sure if this is your family, but it might be worth investigating.....
